Year 5 2024 - 2025
Welcome to our Year 5 class page
Mrs Weipers is the class teacher in Class 5W
Miss Leary & Miss Cordner are the class teachers in Class 5CL
On this page, you will find information about the core subjects for this year, foundation subjects for each term and links to educational websites.
Forest School : This term all of the Year 5 children have the opportunity to take part in Forest School on a Tuesday. These sessions are lots of fun and can be very muddy, especially at this time of the year. If your child can bring wellies and warm clothing on a Tuesday for this activity as well as a warm waterproof coat, it will make their sessions even more fun.
Please see the attached file below for the topic letter which gives an overview of classroom learning for this half term.

Home Learning
Reading: Thank you in advance for all your support and encouragement from home. Our recommendation is that the children read every night for at least 15 minutes and talk to you about what they have read. Please discuss any new vocabulary that may appear in the text.
Times tables: In Year 5, times tables and the related division facts are used regularly in lessons so please practise these regularly at home.
Spellings: These will be handed out on Monday and tested weekly on the following Mondays.
Below are some links to websites that have various resources and interactive games to help with your child’s learning. These are a great way to consolidate what we have learnt in school. Children have been given usernames and passwords for Mathletics, Times Tables Rock Stars, Oxford Owl and Espresso.
Below you can find a timetable of what is covered in class each week. Please note that this is a rough timetable to give you an idea of how much time we spend on different subjects but does change from time to time in order to best fit what the class is doing.
