Welcome to our Year 1 class page

Miss Brown is the class teacher in Class 1B.

Mrs Robinson is the class teacher in Class 1R. 

On this page, you will find information about the core subjects for this year, foundation subjects for each term and links to educational websites.

We start the day at 8:55am and finish at 3:25pm.  For morning drop-off and afternoon collection times please come to the the infant yard.

P.E Sessions

PE for 1B is on Fridays and for 1R on Thursdays.  We ask that the children come to school wearing their PE kit for outdoor exercise on their PE day.  Loose fitting clothing and trainers are essential.

Homework

Thank you in advance for all your support and encouragement from home. Below is a detail of homework we give over the course of the year.

Spelling

In Year 1, a spelling homework sheet will be sent home every Monday, starting from November. This is the sound they have been learning during their daily phonics lesson. The children will be able to practice all week and we will have a spelling challenge every Friday.

Reading

Our recommendation is that the children read every night for 10 minutes and talk to you about what they have read. Remind children to 'Fred Talk' new words to help them de-code (segment each sound in the word and then blend them together) . Please discuss any new vocabulary that may appear in the text. 

This year reading books are changed every Tuesday.

Every half term we send out letters via Class Dojo detailing the Units of work we will cover. If you have any further queries about Year 1 curriculum content, plase get in touch with either Miss Brown or Mrs Robinson.

Each child will be given an individual login for Mathletics and Reading Eggs early on in the Autumn term.  These will be stuck inside their  'Reading Record' book.
