Home Learning

Reading: Thank you in advance for all your support and encouragement from home. Our recommendation is that the children read every night for at least 15 minutes and talk to you about what they have read. Please discuss any new vocabulary that may appear in the text.

The reading books are changed on Wednesdays.

Times tables: In Year 4 times tables and the related division facts are used regularly in lessons so please practice these at home. Your child will be told which table they need to practice and will be tested on these regularly.

E.G. 3 x 4 = 12 so 12 ÷ 4 = 3.

Ideally, the children should know all their times tables by the end of Year 4. We will be focusing on the following times tables, in this order: 6, 11, 12, 9 and 7. At the end of the year, the children will complete the government times table check.

Spellings: Spellings will be given out at the beginning of the week and tested the following week.

Below are some links to websites that have various resources and interactive games to help with your child’s learning. These are a great way to consolidate what we have learnt in school. Children have been given usernames and passwords for Mathletics, Times Tables Rock Stars, Oxford Owl and Espresso.
